MICROCHIPPING
We offer microchipping; this is in compliance with the pet passport scheme.

Why have your pet Microchipped

Just imagine how you or your pet would feel if you where separated whilst on a trip or a everyday walk, or you left your dog securely on a leash outside a shop only for a few moments mind you and return to find someone had stolen it.
Many unidentified pets are never reunited with their owners and some are even destroyed by the authorities.

That’s not going to happen to your pet, you say?

It only takes an open door or gate or a cute gal across the road who’s on heat or maybe someone wants to own a dog / cat or other pet just like yours and is prepared to just take it. Insurance money does not cover the heartache. Pet microchipping is easy, cheap and causes very little discomfort.

What is Microchipping?

A microchip is the tiny computer chip that contains the unique ID number assigned to the transponder. The microchip measures approximately 1 mm2 (size of a rice grain).

Each unique ID number is encoded onto the microchip during the manufacturing process by a laser. To the transponder (pet), the microchip is inserted in the fatty tissue between the shoulder blades. It is a painless procedure.

How lost animals are reunited with their owners.

Once a microchipped animal is scanned at the Dog salon, its unique ID number will bring up its owners contact details that are recorded on a database (the database is run by the Kennel Club and is called “pet log”). The Dog salon will then make contact with the owner.

Microchipping is available at the Dog Salon for the small fee of £20 per animal.
